There are over 100+ pages here dedicated to building darkrooms and accessories. You can navigate one page at a time, by clicking on the "Next" link at the bottom of each page, or you can use the links on the left side of the page to jump from one section to another.

From here you can find articles on how to build darkrooms and accessories. How to build a sink, cabinets, safe lights, paper safes, and many more items. All are listed below.

My interest in photography led me into the darkroom many years ago. During attempts to find construction information on the web, I discovered that it's difficult to find. Therefore this, and the attached pages, are dedicated to the building of darkrooms and accessories.

Well, I've moved again, and I'm starting my third darkroom. And, since I'm in a temporary location, I'll be building a transportable darkroom. I'm changing the look of these pages a little too, to break out the pages based more on how I used them in each darkroom.

About 1986 years ago I built my first darkroom, it was 8' high with a footprint of 4' by 6' inside. I built it out of 2x4 stud framing, covered the walls with drywall, ran on-the-wall wiring, built a plywood sink, table, and shelving.

It was adequate for Black and White developing and printing with room for four 11x14 trays in the sink. I also had room for a Jobo processor which I used for some color work.

On January 17th, 1994, at 4:31 am, I was thrown out of bed by a rather large earthquake. We lived about 3 miles from the epi-center of the Northridge quake. We moved by July to Oregon, I was sorry to say goodbye to my darkroom. For the next two years we rented a house, and I did no developing. Then, in July of 1996, we moved into a new house, and I started construction on a new darkroom. This one has inside dimensions of almost 8' by 8' with an 8' ceiling. It has a much larger sink, as well as a larger counter on the dry side, and now I can have a film drying cupboard inside the room.

Well I've moved again. And this time I have to make a temporary darkroom, so I'll be making one as I've described on my temporary darkroom page.
