Basic Darkroom Techniques: Cropping prints

When the negative you want to make a print of has more in it than you want to print, or you want to enlarge just a portion of the negative, you will need to crop during the print process. This is a very simple concept, you simply raise the enlarger head higher, until only the portion of the negative you wish to print is on the paper.

You will need to re-focus the enlarger, and the exposure time / f-stop will change. The farther the lamp is from the paper, the less intense the light hitting the paper, and therefore you will need to increase the exposure, make new test prints, etc.
